Big Highside leaves Kruger Hospitalized in China-Surgery and Storybook Ending

At 2pm on 15 September, 2013 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival (Autumn Race) ZIC Superbike series race 2 begins at the Zhuhai International Circuit. If the first race was about the first introduction of Chinese motorbikes to the race, then the second race will be about the fierce end of season battles for supremacy.

At the start, pole-sitter Huang Shi-Zhao successfully maintains his lead into the first corner. Dan Kruger, who finished second yesterday, follows him closely and wants to turn the tables today. The two riders run nose to tail, just 0.2 second apart. Race 1 third placed man Mohd Ramdan runs in third place, while Chinese riders Hao Xiao-Qiang, Li Zheng-Peng and Hu Zhao-Neng are in fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively.

As the race progresses into lap 3, Huang Shi-Zhao and Dan Kruger begins to move away from the other pursuers and form their own lead group. The gap between them never grows beyond a second.

In the middle of the race, Dan Kruger appears to be unable to keep up with Huang Shi-Zhao and drops to more than a second behind him. Meanwhile Mohd Ramdan, running in third place, extends his advantage over Li Zheng-Peng to over 3 seconds. As the race wears on, Huang Shi-Zhao’s has problems in traffic, allowing Dan Kruger to move past at turn 1 on lap 7.

Now in the lead, Dan Kruger begins to pull away, with many backmarkers now in their paths, Huang seems to struggle to keep up and his dream of a double win is now out of his control. In the end, Dan Kruger, after having an operation on his pelvis on Friday night, completes a miraculous victory in race 2. Huang Shi-Zhao takes second place and becomes the 2013 ZIC Superbike champion, while Mohd Ramdan takes third place once again.
